Capitalize: Food Application

Get ready for the second annual Capitalize: Food competition. This opportunity is open for food startups, culinary entrepreneurs, and chefs with innovative food products to showcase their skills and share their passion for food with Kings fans. The competition will feature some of the most talented food entrepreneurs from around the region, who will compete head-to-head to demonstrate their creativity, skills, and unique culinary perspective.

The competition will be judged by a panel of experts, including Sacramento Kings and Legends Hospitality food executives, who will evaluate each dish on presentation, taste, and originality. The winner will be awarded an opportunity to have their food/restaurant brand featured and served at select home games throughout the 2024-25 Sacramento Kings season.

Application period closes on Friday, August 30 at 11:59pm.

Eligibility requirements:

Entrants must be located within 70 miles of the Golden 1 Center.

Have required permits to make and sell food product in California such as:

business license
food handlers license
seller's permit
food facility health permit
processed food registration

Must certify that the food concept submitted is your unique, original, scratch made creation.

Applicants will be judged on creativity, flavor, presentation, and ability to produce at scale. Some guidelines to consider include:

Cost: Target cost of goods is 15% or less of the retail cost. For example, an item that can retail for $10 should cost no more than $1.50 / unit
Time: Food must be able to be assembled in just a few steps and served quickly..
Sourcing: We aim to source 90 percent of the culinary ingredients from growers and producers operating within a 150-mile radius of Golden 1 Center.
